The Swedish metal quartet Cabeza is back with their second EP-release FALSE KING, containing 5 tracks filled with a ponderous presence, massive sounding groovy melodies and ferocious
existential aggression.
The unifying effect that rises through the live per-formance, the merge between the physical and the spiritual, the energetic yield betwixt performers and spectators, is one of the prime purposes of the tightly linked Swedish metal quartet named Cabeza. All members were raised and shaped by music, which through the live performance, would reach levels beyond the recorded studio music. There is no other type of music like metal, which succeeds in purifying the senses of the spectator and which offers a luminous and clear view of our own existence on this celestial and peculiar planet, Tellus. This mental clarity to which the genre contributes, almost of a religious nature, chronicles our existence in a captivating and horrid manner. It’s a perspective that offers the primordial idea of balance, to wit: that in our existence, that of physical and emotional unity, beauty will always occur along-side hideousness, just as violence will coexist together with pacification, as dark and light, life and death, development and decay and joy and agony etc.
Cabeza expresses through music, emotion, sound and lyrics, the ancient and vindictive ideas of balance. The EP False King contains moods and themes that are relevant in today’s societal and individual spiritual and physical situation, but which are also linked to periods that stretch all the way back to ancient and prehistoric corners and king-doms. At the centre of False King are thoughts and claims about man’s inability to look at himself through clarity. Our tendencies of prepainting a false image of oneself, to assign inaccurate and deceitful traits to one’s person.
Like Cabeza’s previous EP, Broken Wanderer, False King continues to explore ideas about the human ego, and how we are governed and dominated by this invisible treacherous will. The ego must be conquered, by any means, and it is through this approach that human beings might achieve a clarity about themselves and their surroundings and existence.
It's through the deep experience of metal, the music, culture and interaction within live perfor-mances, which creates space where the socalled dark side of humanity can come forward. A side that contains honesty, a counterbalanced truth about us that is as beautiful as it is brutal and ugly. A reality that verifies that life is a privilege and an experience consisting of storms of extreme, small and mild emotions, and above all that everything we interact with, and experience has an end. Through metal we humans find a dark and obscure, but refreshing and energetic insight of an absolute truth: which is that there is one definitive guarantee in our existence, that is, that we will all die and flow on to the spaces beyond our senses and carnal existence.
